11/14/2021

Main and Magic has officially turned one year old! There are so many milestones in the first year of podcasting. Just making it to episode 10 is a big deal since many podcasters abandon their shows by episode eight or nine. But I knew when I started this gig I was going to be in it for the long haul.

As our community celebrates, I wanted to highlight the top 10 most downloaded episodes of our first year. It's been fun to see what is resonating with our audience and how our guests have helped to spread some Disney magic to new listeners and friends.
Without further ado, here are our top 10 episodes!

10.

We have a tie! Recently published Episode 29 - Christmas at Walt Disney World 101 AND Episode 23 - Teen Talk - Disney Vacation Planning from a Teen's Perspective took the number 10 spot.

In spot 9 we have Episode 17 - Walt Disney World in 1978 with Dale Barr: Part 2.

8.

Sliding up to 8th is Episode 22 - Top 5 Walt Disney World Hotels to Stay at with Kids (age 9 and under).

This one surprised me so we're definitely going to do more episodes on Disney+ content. At number seven we have Episode 9 - What Disney+ Documentaries and Docuseries to Watch First.

6.

I was so happy to see a Cast Member story make it to the top ten. In the 6th spot we've got Episode 21 - Cast Member Stories Series - Interview with WDW Vet Services Professional Internship Alumni Janine - Part 2. If you are curious about the behind the scenes of Disney's Animal Kingdom, this is required listening!

Here we are in the top five and my brother Nick's first appearance on the podcast! It's Episode 18 - Disney Park Dad Moments with Nick Barr.

Rolling in at number four is one of my favorite episodes to date! It's Episode 26 - Walt Disney World Thesis Attractions. This is our most reflective and philosophical episode so far and one I feel goes beyond standard Disney fandom. It's also the episode I received the most messages and comments about!

Here we are in the top three! Not surprising, it's the first installment of my interview with my dad about his and my mom's first trip to a Disney park. It's Episode 16 - Walt Disney World in 1978 with Dale Barr: Part 1.

Janine is podcast famous, as she should be! Coming in at number two is Episode 20 - Cast Member Stories Series - Interview with WDW Vet Services Professional Internship Alumni: Part 1. Again, this is required listening (along with part 2 in episode 21) for anyone interested in zoo care and Disney's Animal Kingdom operations from an animal care standpoint.

Drumroll please...
Coming in at our top spot, the most downloaded episode is Episode 2 - First Disney Park Memories. In this episode Katie and I share our earliest memories of visiting the Disney Parks as kids. From my first visit in the mid 80's when there were only two parks to Katie's first visit in the early 90's. It's a fun look back at where our Disney park fandom began. This is such an appropriate episode to hit our top spot for the podcast's first anniversary.

On behalf of myself and all our guests, thanks for making this first year so magical! It's been great getting to revisit our happy place through conversation, learn about the parks from those with firsthand knowledge, and explore the deeper, more artful and historical influences through reflection and debate.

Cheers and kungaloosh to the year ahead!
